The sound of the rushing water of the Maumee River, the feel of the sun on my face, and the warm gentle breeze blowing through my hair made for a lovely day!
But there were a few things I did to prepare for this trip and one was to make sure I had my sunscreen on and it was available to reapply.
I mentioned on this blog that I often use Burt's Bees on my lips. The All-Weather product has an SPF of 15 and I appreciate that it is a broad spectrum, water resistant, and has zinc oxide in it. At initial application, it appears white and heavy but absorbs well.
When not using Burt's Bee's I apply a Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB Lip Balm of 30. There are many on the market and I gravitate to ones with shea butter or aloe and vitamin E in them.
As you can see, I have fair skin so make sure I reapply my sunscreens every couple of hours. I do not mind products that have the medicated sunscreen taste but do try to stay away from balms that are flavored because they tend to dry out my lips. Wax, oil, and water can separate when exposed to heat or humidity so I keep my lip products in the cooler when outside to help prevent them from melting. If you are using natural products, they often do not have preservatives in them so they should be refrigerated.
We enjoyed our day along the bank of the Maumee River and watching the American Bald Eagle.
Thank you for reading today! I hope this post benefits you in some way! Enjoy the light, mood, and warmth we receive from the sun.
