SERUMS

Spending money on skincare is expensive and I usually gear my purchases toward serums. Serums are clear, gel-based, or liquid, and are designed to deliver high concentrations of specific active ingredients to the skin and contain topical antioxidants including vitamins A, C, and E. Some also contain topical retinol and ingredients that even out skin tone.

When choosing a serum you ought to know what purpose you wish to use it for. I use them for hydrating and plumping up my skin.

Retinol. This can increase cell turnover and stimulate collagen and elastin production. It can increase the appearance by plumping up fine lines and wrinkle and help improve uneven skin tone, treat pigmentation and smooth the skin's surface. It can be used to help with cystic acne and blemishes. The retinoid process may include redness and flaking skin in the first few weeks. This is due to adjusting to the increasing cell turnover rate.

Collagen is used for strengthening the skin. It may help improve skin elasticity, reduce visible wrinkles, and increase blood flow to the skin to give it a younger appearance. Type 1 and 3 are used in skincare products.

Hyaluronic acid, also known as hyaluronan, is a clear substance that is naturally produced by your body. The largest amounts of it are found in your skin, connective tissue, and eyes. It basically acts to retain water and keep your tissues well lubricated and moist.

Salicylic acid belongs to a class of drugs known as salicylates. When applied to the skin, it may work by helping the skin shed dead cells from the top layer and by decreasing redness and swelling from inflammation. This decreases the number of pimples that form and speeds healing.

24k Gold Serum helps to restore dull skin's elasticity for firmer more youthful appearing skin. The serum is formulated with real 24k gold to fight fine lines and wrinkles and leave your skin moisturized and glowing.

Peptides are short strings of amino acids, typically comprising 2–50 amino acids. Amino acids are also the building blocks of proteins. Topical creams and ointments with peptides can cause symptoms to the skin, such as skin sensitivity, itching, and rashes.

To apply my serums, I apply the serum all over my face and neck, twice daily, once in the morning, and then again in the evening before applying my moisturizer.  I usually just dab drops of the serums in my clean hands and spread them around my face and neck. Then, I spread it around with my clean jade roller or Spa Science device shown here in the photo.

How soon you see results depends on your skin and usage. Typically beauty experts say after at least 7 weeks of use you will notice a difference.
