MAKEUP
When it comes to makeup, I keep things simple and practical. I’ve learned over time that a no-fuss approach works best for me—most days, less really is more.
I’m often asked what products I use daily, and the truth is, I like to experiment. I’m always testing new formulas and combinations to see what complements my skin best. My complexion is naturally fair with rosy undertones, and I deal with some redness, dryness, and the occasional blemish. Since my lashes and brows are already dark, I focus more on evening out my skin and adding a bit of glow rather than going heavy on eye products.
This routine is especially suited for fair skin tones, but many of these tips can work across the board.
Moisturizer
Hydration is a must for me. Right now, I’m using AZURE 24K Gold & Collagen Firming Day Cream. It’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, and keeps my skin from getting dry or flaky. I only need a small amount, and I always give it a few minutes to sink in before applying makeup.
For extra dry patches, I turn to Dermasil—it’s richer and more intensive, so a little goes a long way. I tend to keep my moisturizer budget-friendly and invest more in serums when it comes to skincare.
Foundation
I’ve tried countless foundations over the years. Currently, I’m testing ZOEVA, though I’m still on the hunt for something that gives me the same coverage I used to get from Becca (which has since been discontinued).
For a drugstore option, I like Almay Age Essentials Foundation. It’s smooth, طبیعی-looking, and gentle on my sometimes sensitive skin.
Lip Balm
Living in the Midwest means dealing with harsh winters and humid summers, so lip balm is a must-have year-round. Burt’s Bees Moisturizing Lip Balm is my go-to—it’s natural, non-greasy, and keeps my lips hydrated throughout the day.
Concealer
I’ve only recently added concealer to my routine to help with under-eye darkness. I use Almay Smart Shade Concealer, applying light dabs and blending gently. It’s lightweight, though I do wish it offered a bit more coverage.
Blush
Instead of traditional blush, I often use cream lipstick on my cheeks. I mix shades on the back of my hand and blend them in—it lasts longer and gives a more natural finish. A touch of highlighter on top adds a subtle glow.
Lipstick
I rotate between a few favorites: Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color, MAC Love Me Lipstick, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Mary Kay. Even on minimal-makeup days, lipstick alone can brighten my whole look.
For liquid lipstick, I like Stila and Anastasia Beverly Hills. They’re long-lasting and matte, though I’ve learned prep is key. I exfoliate my lips with a simple mix of brown sugar and coconut oil, then apply lightly to avoid patchiness.
Highlighter
I love a soft shimmer. Stila Heaven’s Hue Highlighter in an icy opal shade adds just the right amount of light to my cheeks and inner eye corners. For drugstore options, I also enjoy Rimmel Instant Strobing Highlighter and L’Oréal Infallible Galaxy Stick for that dewy glow.
Eyeshadow
My current palette is Revolution Wild Animal Courage. It’s full of rich, warm tones—browns, golds, coppers, and burgundies—with great pigmentation and a bit of sparkle for fun.
Mascara
Curling my lashes is essential. Since I don’t use falsies, I rely on mascara to build length and volume. I’ve been using Rimmel lately and like to layer it for a fuller look. I apply horizontally on the top lashes and use a vertical wand for the lower lashes for better control.
Facial Cleanser
At the end of the day, I keep cleansing simple with CeraVe. It’s gentle, effective, and removes makeup without irritating my skin.
I do switch products fairly often, depending on what my skin needs or what I’m testing next. If you’re curious about anything in my routine or have questions, feel free to ask—I’m always happy to share.
